I'm from a small town. Actually, scratch that: I'm from a farm outside of a small town.
When I first released The Girl with the Empty Suitcase, my parents came to the launch. (They actually saved the day by tracking down the boxes of books that were late!) More on my launch here (including pictures!)
My community here has been beyond supportive, but I really wanted to do something back in my old hometown, where I went to school and graduated and hid books in my desk (yeah, I was that kid), where almost my entire family still lived.
But, winter in Canada, especially a rough winter like we had, makes planning things rather... difficult. Especially from more than a five-hour drive away.
Winter roads and I are not friends.
So, I decided to wait until spring. Early spring, anyway.
Now, at long last, it's almost here!

The local library in Hanna (no, I do NOT know Nickelback), is hosting the event. It's listed as a book signing. My plan is to have a reading, Q and A session, and then signing, but I have honestly no idea how many people will come out for it, so I'm willing to be flexible about it. Maybe we'll just hang out and chat and such. That's fun too; I love to talk books and catch up with old friends and acquaintances!
My sister is being super helpful, as she lives in town there, and I'm totally going to put her to work to help decorate and sell and organize the evening of, as well. So awesome.
I'm very excited! I promise I will post pictures and such after the fact.
I love that local libraries are just so gosh darned awesome!!! They are hosting the event, and have been great about answering questions and such communicating considerations. I'm really looking forward to it.
Incidentally, if you happen to be in the area, please come out! For more information, check out my events page.
And I hope to see you there!
