This month we are doing some traveling. I'll be updating my social media feeds with the bajillion pictures I'm likely to take, but I also wanted to inspire some people to pack their bags, too, with a throwback to a previous post from last summer, with a whole list of travel-themed "Recommended Reads".
Whether you're jet-setting or back-packing, road-tripping or armchair-traveling, my list of recommendations to fuel your wanderlust included:
The Motorcycle Diaries
A Thousand Splendid Suns
On the Road
Seven Years in Tibet
Three Cups of Tea
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
Under the Tuscan Sun
We are seeing a few literary highlights on our trip. I'm rereading The Diary of Anne Frank in anticipation of visiting the secret annex that she called home for two years.
We are also going on a "Banned Books and Literary Walking Tour" in Amsterdam. I am really looking forward to that one, getting to see some important places in literature, and the history of the importance of books to the city.
Not to mention the history, the artwork, the significant places...
So wherever you go this summer, or if you are staying home, I wish you good reading and "armchair traveling" if nothing else.
What other books should I add to my "recommended travel reads" list?
